My artwork represents the WVU Libraries supporting my paintings. Left side I was holding a painting award I received from the WVU Dean of Libraries. In the center of the collage, are leaders of WVU Libraries, because they support my paintings and I successfully graduated in 2021 with my BFA in WVU. The 4 corners have 4 different birds representing the Mountain State, WV.

Community Connections

I love that people are so central to this depiction. Oftentimes, libraries are thought of first as spaces or collections or points of access. But none of our spaces, collections, or services would be possible without the library professionals to support these systems which, in turn, support our students.

This work shows the many ways we can "hack" into libraries! Not only are the libraries a source of information, but also a source for networking, expression and beyond!

There is a joy in this collage that is unmistakable. It reminds me of all the support I received from libraries beginning with my public library and me being 3 years old and attending story time and later pre-school, my high school job shelving books in my public library, studying and finding refuge and new ideas in my college libraries, and today all the library colleagues and mentors in my career as a librarian. Love is here. Libraries. Librarians.
